Opened in 1912, Benoit blew in 2012 his hundred candles. A venerable age for the only Parisian bistro to hold a star in the Michelin Guide. But a vitality of young man for this restaurant which, in the heart of Paris, carries high the colors of the tradition bistrotière. Until April 2005, the Petit family owned Benoit for 93 years. It is the grandfather of Michel Petit, Benoit Matray, who buys the restaurant in 1912. Butcher of trade and endowed with an excellent memory taste, the ancestor of Michel Petit makes it a true stopper Lyonnais. His clientele is made up of traders from the artistic and picturesque Paris des Halles. Soon, the restaurant becomes a must, a lively place where Benoit Matray receives a good and generous friend. In the 50s he secretly cherishes the wish to see his grandson take over. He also joined the hotel school in Paris as soon as he graduated from high school. And it is in 1961 that Michel Petit succeeds his grandfather at the head of Benoit.
